Introduction
Orange County Government is committed to Web accessibility for all citizens, including those with disabilities. It is our goal to comply with the accessibility requirements outlined in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
While we strive to make our Web site accessible to all users, we recognize that not all pages may be perfectly accessible to everyone and we are constantly updating our site to achieve this.
Accessibility Features
- The first link of pages is a "Skip to Main Content" link which goes directly to the main content of the page.
- Except for decorative images, images contain descriptive alternate text.
- Where possible, semantic markup is used to logically structure content, including headers, paragraphs, and lists for pages and labels for form elements.
- Font sizes are set using relative units (em), allowing for easy resizing of text for better readability.
Third-Party Applications
Many pages contain documents that require third-party plug-ins or readers, including:
Printing
In place is a print media style sheet that goes into effect when a page is sent to a printer. This reduces the printed page to only the content, with Web elements like the navigation removed, and simplifies colors to neutral tones to reduce color ink consumption.
