Opening of the Climate Change Education Center • Orange County is marking its transition to a clean energy future with the grand opening of the Climate Change Education Center (CCEC) and the celebration of the new solar photovoltaic (PV) array, both at the OC Convention Center, during the Green Cities Florida conference May 20-21.  The PV project is the largest rooftop solar array in the southeast, inhabiting the space of five football fields and generating 1,300 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, without producing any greenhouse gases. The CCEC will offer visitors a unique look at some of the latest energy efficiency and alternative energy technologies. On September 25, 2007, Orange County hosted its first-ever Climate Change Summit. Both the Summit and Mayor Crotty's Climate Change Plan (Word - 180 KB) mark the beginning of a strategy to place Orange County in the forefront of the world-wide movement to reduce green house gases.
