Capital Projects Description

Orange County Capital Projects Division is responsible for managing design and construction contracts for new capital improvements, renovation of existing facilities, and replacement of major building systems such as air-conditioning and roofing.  Project management staff define the scope of work, identify professional services to be provided, verify compliance with contract provisions, and certify project completion.

These services are provided to Corrections, Parks and Recreation, Fire-Rescue, Sheriff's Office, Utilities, Health and Family Services, Housing and Community Development, and many others.  The projects have a dollar range from a few hundred thousand to more than $100 million.

The staff consists of Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and others in related professional fields, with a strong background in project management, budgeting, and scheduling.

The Capital Projects Division has developed a set of standards for the design and construction process.  These standards identify levels of performance, administrative procedures, and types of materials to be utilized during the development of a capital improvement.
