The Human Resources Section (HR) advises Growth Management Department employees and supervisors on matters related to healthcare provider coverage, Family Medical Leave, Leave Bank requests, discipline, and other aspects of benefits and entitlements. The section is involved in developing Department operating procedures, conducting departmental new employee orientation and Department-wide satisfaction surveys, conducting all recruitment activities for Growth Management positions, participating in all employment interviews, and processing the required paperwork for background checks and new hires.

The staff in this Section also participates in numerous County-wide committees, such as the Employee Benefits Committee, the Benefits Communication Committee, and the Employee Assistance Program Strategic Committee. In addition, the HR section prepares the required paperwork for all position reclassifications, coordinates the revision of job descriptions when needed, and prepares Employee Change Notices for all personnel actions, including transfers, promotions, resignations, terminations, and educational assistance. Finally, the HR section is responsible for Department oversight and reporting for the Employee Wellness Challenge.
