The Plan Review Section reviews the plans for new commercial buildings as well as the addition or upgrade of any fire protection component. The Section also reviews the use of any outdoor or indoor use of fireworks and any other pyrotechnic. These professionals ensure that any new project meets all applicable fire codes before construction begins. If deficiencies are found on any portion of submitted plans, plan reviewers submit comments to the design professional who in turn must submit revised plans addressing any deficiency or concern. The Section also verifies that all Contractors submitting plans are properly licensed in the State of Florida. During fiscal year 2005, the Plans Review Section conducted 16,299 plan reviews. The Central Florida Construction Industry Council and the Professional Design Industry has praised the Plan Review Section for its continued professionalism and performance during one of busiest construction booms in Orange County history.
