Final design activities are underway to prepare construction plans and right-of-way maps for the planned widening of Boggy Creek Road from the Orange County/Osceola County Line northward to State Road 417.  The plans will include details on the roadway and drainage improvements, traffic signals, roadway signing and pavement markings, and roadway lighting.  Final design will also include plans for maintaining traffic flow and access to adjacent properties during construction.

The planned improvements to Boggy Creek Road include widening from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided urban roadway.  The improvements will include on-road bicycle lanes, sidewalks, landscaping and roadway lighting.

Water quality in the area will be improved as stormwater runoff from the roadway, which is not currently treated, will be collected by an enclosed drainage and piped to stormwater retention ponds.

Boggy Creek Road is located within the jurisdiction of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).  The construction of the stormwater treatment system, including ponds, will require permitting through the SFWMD and the US Army Corps of Engineers and must comply with Orange County regulations.  The permit requirements will address the design and construction of the roadway and ponds.
