Mayor Crotty proclaims September 11 as Patriots' Day
 

Mayor Crotty and the County Commissioners present the proclamation to Rich Maladecki, President of the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association, and Dave Bartek, General Manager of Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal and other key stakeholders including Orange County Fire Chief Carl Plaugher and Dan Kucik, Assistant Chief, Office of the Fire Marshal.
 

 

WHEREAS, the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) is the world's largest regional hotel association and represents approximately 80% of the hotels in the tri-county area and the industry's more than 117,000 employees; and

WHEREAS, for the past five years the CFHLA has recognized the efforts of Central Florida's public safety providers; and

WHEREAS, on September 11, 2009, the CFHLA will sponsor the Patriot's Day Breakfast to recognize the deserving public safety employees for their heroic acts of bravery and firm commitment to public safety; and

WHEREAS, this breakfast will promote patriotism and civic pride within our community and allow our Central Florida community to join public safety personnel in remembering the nearly 3,000 innocent victims who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001.

WHEREAS, this remembrance program continues to honor all members of the public safety community in the state of Florida;

NOW THEREFORE, Richard T. Crotty, by virtue of the authority vested in him as Orange County Mayor, does hereby proclaim September 11, 2009 as

PATRIOTS' DAY

in Orange County, Florida.

DONE AND ORDERED this 1st day of September, 2009.
