Orange County Hosts Community Discussion on Ebola Virus Preparedness

WHAT: Mayor Teresa Jacobs will bring together government and community leaders, as well as public health and law enforcement officials to share plans and provide sector updates. Orange County maintains an extremely high level of readiness and this briefing will further elevate the coordination and familiarization of plans and facilities.

WHO: Dr. George Ralls, Deputy Administrator of Public Safety and Human Services, and Dr. Chris Hunter, Director of Health Services, will provide updates on behalf of Orange County. Community leaders from key sectors, including governance, healthcare, public safety, law enforcement, travel, transportation and more will be in attendance to provide briefings on their sector readiness, and to coordinate with colleagues from other sectors. WHEN: Thursday, October 30, 2014, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Media Availability: 3:30 p.m.

MEDIA AVAILABLITY: Due to limited space in the Emergency Operations Center, media will set up in the press room located adjacent to the main meeting room. Orange TV will provide a clean video and audio feed of the entire discussion for media use. At 3 p.m., Ann Marie Varga and Laureen Martinez will provide Fact Sheets on EOC operations as well as Orange County smart apps available to the public. Beginning at 3:30 p.m., Mayor Jacobs, Dr. Ralls and Orange County Fire Chief Otto Drozd will address the media and be available for questions.
