About Orange County Government's Sustainability Initiative

Mayor Teresa Jacobs’ Sustainability Initiative began in 2013 as an effort to plan for future population growth in a way that enhances the quality of life for current and future generations. With input from stakeholders within the community, municipalities and Orange County government, the Orange County Sustainability Plan, Our Home for Life was drafted and accepted by the Board of County Commissioners in May 2014. The Plan outlines specific incremental and transformative changes for the County through 2040, with interim goals for 2020. In 2015, Mayor Jacobs proposed $300 million in INVEST funding to support several key components of the Plan over the next five years.
