Enabling Legislation:
Ordinance No. 83-18, effective 5/16/83; Ordinance No. 83-38, effective 9/30/83. Abolished by Ordinance No. 92-36 effective 1/1/93; recreated and renamed by Ordinance No. 93-02 effective 2/1/93; Ordinance No. 2000-02 effective 1/14/00; Ordinance No. 2001-22 effective 11/27/01; Ordinance No. 2009-07 effective 4/3/09.

Membership:
Seven members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The Fire Official or his authorized representative shall act as Secretary to the Board and shall perform such other duties for the Board as may be delegated to him.

  • 1 Fire and Casualty Insurance Executive
  • 1 General Contractor
  • 1 Professional Engineer

Term Length: 2 Years

Powers and Duties:
Hears appeals of decisions of the Fire Official as to the application or interpretation of any state fire safety statute, rule or regulation; reviews and proposes amendments to the fire prevention code.
