Green PLACE Advisory Board

Enabling Legislation:
Resolution No. 2007-M-18, creating the Green PLACE Advisory Board, was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on June 5, 2007.

Membership:
The Advisory Board shall be composed of eleven members, all of whom shall be appointed by the Board consistent with the provisions of Chapter 2, Article VI, Orange County Code. The composition and membership shall be as follows: (a) One representative who is employed by each of the following state agencies, and recommended by the Executive Director of the appropriate water management district or the Director of Central District of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection: i. South Florida Water Management District. ii. St. Johns River Water Management District. iii. Florida Department of Environmental Protection. (b) One representative who is a faculty member of the Department of Biology of the University of Central Florida, and recommended by the Dean of the College of Sciences. (c) One representative who is employed by and recommended by each of the following land conservation non-governmental organizations: iv. The Nature Conservancy. v. The Trust for Public Land. (d) Four Orange County citizens not affiliated with the above-listed entities. (e) The Manager of the Orange County Environmental Protection Division.

Term Length: 4 Years

Term Of Office:
Members shall serve for a term of four years. Each term shall expire at 11:59 p.m. December 31st of the fourth year of the term, save and except the initial terms. To provide for staggered terms of successor membership, the terms of office for the initial members, as designated by the Board at the time of their initial appointments shall be as follows: (a) The initial term of office for the South Florida Water Management District representative, the University of Central Florida representative, and one citizen representative shall expire at 11:59 p.m. December 31, 2009; and (b) The initial term of office for the St. Johns River Water Management District representative, the Nature Conservancy representative, and two citizen representatives shall expire at 11:59 p.m. December 31, 2010; and (c) The initial term of office for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection representative, the Trust for Public Lands representative, and one citizen representative shall expire at 11:59 p.m. December 31, 2011; and (d) The Manager of the Orange County Environmental Protection Division shall be a member of the Advisory Board until such time as the Advisory Board sunsets or is abolished.

Powers and Duties:
The Advisory Board shall have the following responsibilities and duties: (a) Review and provide recommendations to the Board on the various proposed evaluations and the appropriate and inappropriate uses for Green PLACE properties. (b) Submit an annual report to the Board on its activities, goals, and objectives. (c) Provide recommendations to the Board for names for existing and future Green PLACE parcels pursuant to the procedure outlined in Administrative Regulation 2.16.
