"I Double Dog Dare You" Campaign
A Year-Long Spay/Neuter Effort
horizontalbar

Orange County Animal Services is very excited to announce a new campaign aimed at reducing the animal overpopulation problem in our community. The "I Double Dog Dare You" campaign is a year-long campaign focused on bringing awareness to the pet overpopulation issue and educating citizens on how they can help reduce the numbers of unwanted animals in Orange County through spaying and neutering their pets.

Campaign Goals

The core goals of the campaign include:

  1. Increasing community awareness of the pet overpopulation problem

  2. Demonstrating the impact spaying/neutering can have on both pets and people

  3. Spurring citizens to take action to spay/neuter their own pets

Every year, Animal Services receives thousands of animals that are not spayed or neutered. This cycle of breeding by unsterilized animals strains the capacity of Animal Services and causes needless suffering for the unwanted puppies and kittens that result from it.

Community Awareness & Education

During this groundbreaking year-long campaign, Animal Services will work to ensure citizens learn about the benefits of spaying or neutering their pets--happier, better behaved animals, a safer community and reduced animal suffering--in order to encourage increased participation in spay/neuter programs like ours. We also will give the public many opportunities to take advantage of the spay/neuter services available to them, either by visiting our Spay/Neuter Clinic at 2769 Conroy Road or by taking advantage of our Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic, which is out in the community serving citizens multiple times each week.

We are taking multiple approaches to get the word out and drive increased awareness of spay/neuter:

  • Billboards are now up throughout Orange County, courtesy of ClearChannel Communications
  • Postcards are being sent to targeted communities prior to the Mobile Clinic visiting their areas
  • Advertising is running in several community newspapers
  • Outreach to community organizations such as churches, schools, libraries and other groups is underway

We are available to talk to your organization about the "I Double Dog Dare You" Campaign. Schedule a speaker today by calling 407-254-9150.
