Solar Hot Water Incentive Program

Update: Orange County's Solar Incentive Rebate is very popular and successful.  Due to the large number of incentive applications received, the County has a backlogged of "approved" incentive applications.  Orange County expects to receive additional funding in 2010 and at that time will complete the backlogged applications.  The program will continue until funding has been depleted.  Complete applications will be processed in order in which they have been received.

Looking for a new way to go green and save money?

Orange County is pleased to announce its Solar Hot Water System Incentive Program

This program is intended to encourage the installation of new solar water heating systems on Orange County residential and commercial buildings by offering an incentive of $200.*  The program is the first in the central Florida region and is a partnership between the Orange County Environmental Protection Division (EPD), Progress Energy and Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC).

This program requires that participants comply with certain requirements by providing the following documents and information.  Please use this Checklist (PDF - 22KB) to ensure a completed application packet.

  1. Property must be located in Orange County, Florida
  2. Proof of an Energy Audit.  Proof can be provided by the organization that completed the energy audit (ex: utility company) or by submitting the signed Energy Audit Affidavit (PDF - 31KB).
  3. Proof that solar hot water incentive was received from your utility provider, ex: utility bill with solar hot water credit
  4. Completed Application Form (PDF - 39KB)
  5. Proof of installation of a new system, date installed, and copy of a paid invoice must be provided
  6. Application form and supplemental materials must be received within six months of solar hot water system installation
  7. Applications will be processed on date received priority basis and will continue as long as program funding is available*

Only one incentive will be provided per building.  Only new systems installed on or after April 22, 2008 are eligible.  Solar pool heating systems are not eligible.

For more information on Orange County's Solar Hot Water System Incentive program, call 407-836-1400.

Allow 3-4 months process time for a complete application packet.  Incomplete application packets will result in a delay of the processing of the application and may take longer.
