Neighborhood Block Party
A neighborhood block party is a not for profit special event, involving 100 persons or less, attended only by residents in the immediate block or neighborhood and requiring a county permit from the Orange County Fire Marshall.
A neighborhood block party requires a completed neighborhood block party application accompanied by a site plan, showing the roadways affected by the block party street(s) closure. Typically, barricades are necessary to close the street(s) or block during the event.
The neighborhood block party application must be submitted to the Orange County Fire Marshal for review and approval ten calendar days before the event. Listed below are a few of the county ordinance requirements affecting neighborhood block parties.
- Neighborhood block party permits are limited to no more than four per year
- A non-refundable check for $25 must accompany the application for a neighborhood block party permit
- A majority of the homeowners or renters living in the portion of the roadway affected by the street closure must sign the block party application
- A block party must take place only within a single family residential area
- Commercial street vendors are prohibited at neighborhood block parties
