In June 1996 the Orange County Fleet Management Division joined forces with its Central Florida neighbors to form the Community Partnership for Clean Air Initiative. Fleet subsequently opened the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Alternative Fuel Refueling Station at 4400 Vineland Road. It is Orange County Government's first clean-burning natural gas refueling station.

The community partnership's goal is to protect our area's air quality. Partnership members include the Orlando Utilities Commission, The Greater Orlando Airport Authority, Federal and State Agencies, Ford Corporation, and Chrysler Corporation.

Fleet Management is committed to protecting the Central Florida environment by recovering and recycling the resources used at its maintenance facility. By recovering these resources, pollution and costs are substantially reduced. Some of the recovered resources are freon, ethylene glycol, waste oil, diesel oil, scrap metal, paper, used tires, oil filters, and batteries.
