Central Florida Commuter Rail

Traffic congestion is a growing concern for Central Florida.  The planned Central Florida Commuter Rail will cover over sixty miles and four counties, running along existing rail freight tracks.

The first phase of this project is expected to serve 12 stations from DeBary to Orlando, starting in 2010.  Orange County will take advantage of rail stations to provide effective land use planning and design to better manage growth.

Unincorporated Orange County's rail stations include the Sand Lake Road Station in phase one and the Meadow Woods Station in phase two.

Transit Oriented Development (TOD)

Transit Oriented Development

On February 5, 2008 the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved a TOD ordinance creating a Transit Oriented Development Overlay Zone for the County to promote transit oriented development and redevelopment at the Sand Lake Road and Meadow Woods station sites.  The BCC presentation outlines TOD considerations for the County.

Maps of the approved County TOD sites are available at Infomap (zoning folder).

To request a preapplication conference for property in a Transit Oriented Development Overlay Zone, please contact Awilda Morales of the Orange County Planning Division at awilda.morales@ocfl.net or 407-836-5600.
