News Highlights
  • Road impact fee rates increase July 1, 2008.
  • The First Amendment Cycle for 2009 has been reserved for the Ear Based Amendments only.  We will begin accepting applications for Comprehensive Policy Plan Amendments during the Second Amendment Cycle 2009. 
  • The next application filing period for Regular Cycle Future Land Use Amendments is January 5 - January 30, 2009 for the Second Regular Cycle 2009 Schedule.  Please note that a pre-application conference with the Comprehensive Planning Section is required prior to submitting an application. 
  • The next application filing period for Small Scale Future Land Use Amendments is May 2 - May 29, 2009 for the Second Small Scale Cycle 2009 Schedule.  Please note that a pre-application conference with the Comprehensive Planning section is required prior to submitting an application.
  • The Florida Green Building Coalition, Green Local Government designation recognizes Green Cities and Counties for outstanding environmental stewardship.   Orange County became the first municipality in Florida to achieve the green local government certification at the Gold Level!

  • Updated flowcharts that describe the Land Development Process in Orange County are now available (PDF - 647 KB).
  • Updated Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, and new Parks & Recreation Impact Fees took effect March 10, 2006.
  • In his 2005 State of the County Address, Mayor Richard Crotty revealed a new strategy for Southeast Orange County. Calling this region Innovation Way, the Mayor envisions a corridor suitable for high-tech, high-value employment. Innovation Way would link major activity centers from the University of Central Florida, centered on a new highway connection.
  • The 23,000 acre Horizon West in southwest Orange County continues to evolve. Detailed Specific Area Plans (SAP) have been approved for Lakeside Village, the Village of Bridgewater, and Town Center.

    Horizon West Village H was adopted September 6, 2006, as the fourth approved village in Horizon West. The SAP was approved by the Board approval as part of a Future Land Use Amendment cycle.
