The Commission on Aging was established as an advisory board to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners in July 2001. It was developed as a direct result of a County Interim Commission Task Force that looked at senior issues. This task force of community leaders spent mine months researching older adult issues and listening to the testimony of citizens, caregivers and providers. Their action plan for becoming an elder-friendly community was adopted by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners on March 6, 2001. On July 31, 2001, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution #2001-M-27, which established the Commission on Aging as a permanent advisory board. |
