What is Citizen Corps?

The United States of America has a long- standing history of courage, bravery and determination. The horrific events of 9/11 were a startling wake-up call to many Americans that we must continue this great tradition of courage, by acting to prepare and protect our families and communities. The Citizen Corps program can teach Americans simple techniques to do just that.

As a grassroots initiative, Orange County Citizen Corps will organize and mobilize citizens within our local community to prepare for future emergencies whether it's an act of terrorism or a natural disaster.

Citizen Corps incorporates a network of volunteer community organizations that utilize the skills and abilities of the American people to prepare communities for the threats of terrorism, crime, and disasters. Citizen Corps is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is a vital part of the USA Freedom Corps initiative.
