OCFRD Firefighter Recruit program is a paid fire training program, which provides an opportunity for individuals who qualify to become state certified Firefighters and Emergency medical Technician (EMT). This intense program involves up to 26 wks of academic and physical training. The course will be conducted on a 8 hrs per day, 5 days per week schedule.
OCFRD offer a mentoring program designed for firefighter candidates. This course introduces the OCFRD applicant to proper lifting techniques, firefighting skills made manageable which will assist applicants with some of the difficult maneuvers of firefighting. Consequently this program will prepare applicants for successful completion of the OCFRD Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
To qualify for this program, you must be:
- At least 18 yr. of age
- HS graduate or equivalent
- In good physical condition
- Of good moral character
- Non-user of tobacco products one year prior to application date
Successful candidates selected through our recruitment and assessment process are hired, paid a salary and placed in training classes to receive both the Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Firefighter Certifications.
Note: Candidates possessing one of the following: current State of Florida Certification as an EMT or Paramedic, are strongly encouraged to apply through this Program. |
