There will be a number of opportunities for the public to both view and comment on the roadway design being developed for the widening of Alafaya Trail from Mark Twain Boulevard to Avalon Park Boulevard. Orange County will conduct three community meetings, hold a public hearing with Orange County's Local Planning Agency (LPA) and finally the project will be presented to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) in the form of a public hearing.
Newsletters will announce the date, time and locations of community meeting and public hearing.
Please note a community meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the Discovery Middle School, 601 Woodbury Road, Orlando, Florida 32828. The meeting began with an open house at 6:30 p.m. followed by a brief presentation at 7:00 p.m.
Community meetings are designed to provide pertinent project information to the public at milestones along the project schedule. The format for community meetings include presentations from County staff, a review of project display boards showing the project features imposed over aerial photography, public input, question and answer forums and project literature.
Public hearings are a part of the approval process for the development and construction of roadway improvements in Orange County. Two public hearings will be conducted as part of this project, one hearing for the LPA and one for the BCC. The format for public hearings include a staff presentation to a quorum of elected or appointed board members, a period for questions and answers, followed by input from the public and finally an official action from the respective board. |
