On June 21, 2006, Mayor Richard Crotty presented a program to the community entitled Invest in Orange County – Our Children's Legacy (the Initiative). The intent of this Initiative is to use the extra tax dollars generated by an unexpectedly large increase in taxable property values to provide the ability to generate $530 Million in proceeds to address a number of infrastructure and environmental preservation needs. These funds will be used for three main purposes: Environmental Preservation, Pedestrian Safety and Enhancements, and Roadway Improvements.  Links to the details of the Initiative are provided below.
