Orange County FL: One patient has been transported from the scene of a mobile home fire on the 6500 block of Pompeii Road in the Lynnwood Estates Mobile Home Park.

As rescuers were executing a technical high-angle rescue on International Drive, the Orange County Communications Center received its first call in reference to a house fire on the eastside of the county; multiple calls subsequently followed.

At approximately 11:37, neighbors in the Lynnwood Estate subdivision reported that there was a house on fire and the resident was trying to extinguish the fire.  Firefighters arrived on scene in four minutes and found a mobile home 25% involved in fire.  Firefighters quickly worked to remove the resident who was attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.  The resident had to be transported to an area hospital with injuries related to the fire.

"Get out, stay out, and call 9-1-1" is the safety message that Orange County Firefighters desperately want everyone to understand.  Even small fires can quickly get out of hand, said Incident Commander Dave Provau. "Please leave the firefighting to your local professionals; we are trained on how to manage these emergencies and have the proper tools to mitigate the incident."

Two large scale events as demonstrated by both these calls require multiple resources.  The Orange County Fire Rescue Department managed a complex high-angle rescue while simultaneously mitigating a fire that had the potential of claiming a life and multiple properties.

The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the fire.  The resident said the fire started in the kitchen while he was cooking.
