Commissioner Linda Stewart is holding a commuter rail meeting for business owners

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Contact: Wendy McNeill, 407-836-9676, wendy.mcneill@ocfl.net

The business owners meeting is being held in the area of the proposed commuter rail line and stations along South Orange Avenue. Two commuter rail stations, one near the Sand Lake Road intersection and the other near the Town Center Boulevard intersection are planned.

The meeting will feature a presentation on Commuter Rail and a market study done for the area businesses.  The goal of the meeting is to provide information on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), what effect it will have on the businesses in the area, and what is needed to make TOD successful.

Commissioner Stewart wants to dialog with area business operators who will be most affected by this transportation option for employees and customers and for them to share knowledge of the needs and wants of the  local business community. Wisely and efficiently utilizing this new transportation option can lead to an increased customer base for south Orlando businesses. The Transit Oriented Development Business Focus Group meeting will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008 from 10:00 to 11:30 pm.

The meeting will take place at the Orange County Cooperative Extension at 6021 South Conway Road.

Space is limited  so please call  Wendy McNeill at 407-836-9676 before Tuesday, August 12th to reserve a seat.   There is no charge for this meeting.
