Mayor Crotty Hosts 2010 Census Seniors Provider Breakfast

Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty and Mary Oakley, State Representative for the Department of Elder Affairs along with the Orange County Complete Count Committee attended the senior provider event for Census 2010. The Mayor and the Census 2010 Senior Subcommittee members provided valuable information on the importance of census and why every senior should be counted in 2010.

Mayor Crotty stated in his opening remarks, "By encouraging seniors and others in the community to participate in the census, you will ensure that we will have adequate facilities and services. Census data is used to guide local decision-making on important community planning issues, including where to build senior centers, like the one we're enjoying today".

Renaissance Senior Center – Wouldn't Be Here Without Census!

The Renaissance Senior Center is one unique location.  The building was built with collaboration from a number of funding sources.  In particular, the building received funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.  CDBG is awarded to local communities based on census data. Without an accurate census count, facilities like the Renaissance Senior Center would not be able to provide services to our community.  Come see the center and learn about the services that are provided to our seniors through the center.
