Mayor Crotty attends the "Topping Off" Ceremony For Amway Center
Mayor Crotty along with Magic representatives and key community partners pose during the ceremony.
Construction on the new Amway Center in downtown Orlando meets a milestone as the placement of the final steel beam is recognized by the traditional "Topping Off" ceremony, which was held on November 5 at the construction site (corner of Church Street and Hughey).
The 875,000 square foot Amway Center will open in the fall of 2010 and compete to host major national events, concerts and family shows, while serving as the home of the Orlando Magic.
Mayor Crotty stated, "Although this will be the new home for the Magic, I envision a lot of different uses from major national sporting events, concerts and family shows. This will truly be a multi-purpose events center. I want to commend the Magic, our community partners and our hospitality industry for teaming up to make this day possible".
Participants included Orlando Magic Chief Operating Officer Alex Martins, Mayors Buddy Dyer and Rich Crotty, City and County Commissioners and representatives from Hunt Construction Group.
