Recycling

Recycling is required by Orange County Code. Orange County has a two-bin recycling program. Recycling service is provided once a week.
Collection Day

If you are a resident in unincorporated Orange County and you need to find out your recycling collection day, you may access collection days and hauler information online.  You may also call the Solid Waste Hotline at 407-836-6601 or send an e-mail to Solid.Waste@ocfl.net.
Holiday Collection Schedule

There is no garbage, recycling or yard waste collection on the following holidays:

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day (4th of July)
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Recycling and yard waste will be collected on New Year's Day if it is your normal collection day.

When to Place Out Your Recycling Bins

Recycling bins may be placed at the curb after 6:00 p.m. the night before but no later than 6:00 a.m. on your collection day. Remove emptied bins from the curb within 12 hours after pickup.
Orange Bin

Use the orange bin to recycle:

  • Pasteboard (i.e., cereal boxes, empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls and shoe boxes)
  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Brown paper grocery bags
  • Corrugated cardboard (flattened and cut down to no larger than 3 ft. by 3 ft.)
  • Catalogs
  • Telephone books
Green Bin

Use the green bin to recycle:

  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Aluminum and tin cans
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • All drink boxes and milk/juice cartons
  • All plastic containers with the #1-PETE or #2-HDPE symbol on the bottom
  • Plastic bottles #3 - #7 with a neck
When Recycling Bins Get Full

Place your overflow recyclable materials in brown paper grocery bags and place them beside your recycling bins at the curb.
How to Get Recycling Bins

Recycling bins are provided free of charge to our single-family home residents in unincorporated Orange County. Simply call the Solid Waste Hotline at 407-836-6601 or request bins online. Please allow up to 10 business days for bins to be delivered by the contract hauler.
