(BUSINESS UNIT) PC TECHNICIAN

Job Code: 2407
Pay Grade: 015

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Primary support position for the installation, operation and maintenance of microcomputer equipment within a department. Evaluates and installs new software on microcomputers.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a Business Unit Systems Analyst or designated supervisor.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs a wide variety of microcomputer problems related to hardware, software and network anomalies.
  • Installs and configures computers. Determines if a software application meets the needs of the users.
  • Installs new software.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots network problems.
  • Verifies inventory of equipment.
  • Instructs user on how to perform basic troubleshooting.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Associate’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field and two years of experience in computer repair, installation and problem analysis; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

High level of expertise in troubleshooting IBM compatible microcomputers connected to a Local and Wide Area Network. Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Office and other windows based applications..
 
Preferences
   A+ computer certification.
