Responsible for all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Confers with and advises staff/customers of procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods. Projects long range requirements for database administration and design. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Division Manager or designee.
Representative Duties /Assignments
Develops and maintains multiple databases for applications in the department.
Facilitates the planning, testing, installation and tuning databases.
Structures and reorganizes databases as required.
Performs database administration and monitors performance.
Manages growth in data size and user population.
Interface with users to understand and support requirements.
Responsible for performance optimization and insuring and controlling data availability.
Maintain adequate backups and implement a fault-tolerant architecture to provide immediate disaster recovery.
Performs responsible supervisory and administrative duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field and four years of experience in database administration, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, certification and experience.
