Performs technical and administrative tasks to support the availability, performance and integrity of a department’s data communications network.
Representative Duties /Assignments
Performs installation, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of data communication hardware and software components.
Performs the technical and administrative tasks required for the planning, installation, removal and maintenance of data communication network configurations.
Assists in the analysis, design and implementation of data communication network configurations. Monitors system performance and recommends performance improvements.
Develops and maintains current drawings and specifications related to all data communications components and circuits.
Provides the site plan preparation specifications and drawings for all new installations and supervises fieldwork.
Tests and schedules all changes in a manner that will be error-free, well communicated and not impact the production environment adversely.
Provides problem determination, resolution and documentation services.
Identifies and reports information security violations.
Assists other work areas in the development of effective network utilization practices.
Performs the testing, evaluating and recommendation of vendor provided data communications software and/or hardware problems.
Recommends and develops standards and procedures. Designs and develops operational procedures for the use of data network hardware and/or software components.
Coordinates and manages the operation of radio system, pager system and mobile data at the Orange County Convention Center.
Manage and coordinate projects for the radio system, mobile data system and pager system software and hardware installation and upgrade.
Develop and provide customer training for radio system, pager system and wireless data services.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and two years of network software programming experience, data network design, installation, or maintenance experience. Additional years of the specified experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
