ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

Pay Grade: 017

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Manages the planning, implementation and operation of County-wide recreational activities, athletic programs and activities for all ages.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Responsible for coordinating County-wide recreational programs and activities such as athletics, youth recreation camps and special events.
  • Assist in the creation of operation budgets and revenue collection reports.
  • Develops good working relationships with other governmental and private agencies to further the goals of providing quality recreational programming for the division.
  • Supervises and instructs staff in areas relating to programming and activities. Assists in recruiting, training and supervising seasonal and part-time staff, volunteers and instructors in the area of assigned responsibilities.
  • Develops and maintains an ongoing in-service training program for all recreational staff.
  • Prepares a variety of operational reports and survey information.
  • Develops and revises as needed all division athletics and recreational camp manuals for parents and participants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Recreation Management, Public Administration, Sports Administration/Management or closely related field and once year of experience in recreational and/or athletic programming; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and athletic programming supervision experience.

Must be able to work nights and weekends. May be required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Class B Driver License. Must obtain and bear cost of background clearance prior to employment.
 
Preferences
   Florida Recreation & Park Association certification.
