Welcome to Orange County, Florida. I am proud to be serving my second term as your mayor and look forward to our work together as we continue to build a strong and prosperous community for our guests and citizens to enjoy. As home to more than 1.2 million residents and as the top travel and leisure destination -with more than 66 million visitors annually our region is truly the best place in the world to live, work and raise a family.
In addition to our world class international airport, second largest convention center in the U.S., and blockbuster theme parks and entertainment options, Orange County is home to some of the finest venues in America, including the spectacular new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and our newly-rebuilt Camping World Stadium – formerly named the Citrus Bowl. In fact, we just hosted three Copa América Centenario (Centennial Cup for the Americas) matches and we’re prepping for the National Football League Pro Bowl in January 2017, as well as Wrestlemania 33 in April 2017!
Additionally, we’re home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic, we host the Atlanta Braves for their annual spring training at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and a soon-to-be-completed Major League Soccer Stadium for our new MLS franchises, the Orlando City Soccer Club and Orlando Pride.
Our economic strength has generated not only national attention – including an ever-increasing number of AAA credit rating levels - it has generated enormous economic opportunities. The City of Orlando was ranked Forbes’ No. 1 city for job growth and one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. The New York Times named Orlando No. 13 of 52 Places to go in 2015 and Travel and Leisure also recognized the region as one of the Best Places to Travel in 2015. Gallup also ranked the metro Orlando region No. 1 in the nation for job creation in 2015. Additionally, KPMG named Orlando the second-most cost-competitive community in the U.S. for business.
Our Regional Branding Campaign, “Orlando. You don’t know the half of it.” can tell you more about our community and how we stay on the cutting edge.
