Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs hosted the inaugural Regional Affordable Housing Summit on Oct. 20 at the Orange County Convention Center. Teresa Jacobs, Orange County Mayor

The citizens of Orange County elected Teresa Jacobs to serve as Mayor in November 2010 with 68 percent of the vote. She was re-elected without opposition in 2014 for another four-year term. Prior to holding public office, she was president of the Orange County Homeowners Association Alliance (an organization that represented approximately 100 neighborhoods) and enjoyed a successful nine-year career in banking.

Senator Mel Martinez, Chairman of the Southeast & Latin America for JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Mel Martinez was the first Cuban-American elected to the United States Senate. Prior to his time in the Senate, President George W. Bush appointed Martinez as the 12th Secretary of the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development. Senator Martinez also served as Mayor of Orange County and before beginning his time in public service, he practiced law for 25 years.

Previously, he served in the Florida House of Representatives, during which time he chaired several committees and subcommittees, and received more than 50 awards for his legislative service.
