The Orange County Health Department Community Health Nurse provides health screenings and nursing assessments, health education, counseling, and referral; support to families with chronic and acute health problems; back to school immunizations and support for healthy lifestyles. A weekly fluoride program is provided to students at Columbia Elementary School. Nursing services are available to students attending Columbia, Engelwood, Bonneville, Union Park and Cypress Park Elementary Schools and to community residents through the Neighborhood Centers for Families.
Orange County Public Schools provides a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to diagnose and treat minor childhood illnesses, conduct school and sports physicals, and health screenings to children ages 0-18. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner serves as the school nurse at Walker Middle, Lake Weston and Tangelo Park Elementary Schools. The services are offered through the Neighborhood Centers for Families.
Orlando Regional Healthcare System Teen Xpress program provides regular physical examination and health care screenings for adolescents through school-based clinics, homeless shelters and a mobile resource unit. This is a support service to the Neighborhood Centers for Families system.
