Are you a strong swimmer, 16 years or older, who enjoys the outdoors and serving the community? Lifeguard Job Fairs will be held at Kelly Park and Fort Gatlin Recreation Complex in January/February 2024!

Orange County Parks and Recreation Division hosts the annual Lifeguard Job Fairs (interviews only) at Kelly Park, 400 E. Kelly Park Road, Apopka, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Monday, February 19, and 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28. The Job Fairs (interviews only) at Fort Gatlin Recreation Complex, 2009 Lake Margaret Dr., Orlando, will be 2 - 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and bring their I.D. Salary starts at $16.07/hour. Free lifeguard certification class provided to selected candidates.

Swim test will be held at a later date, time and location. Test includes:
1. Swim 150 yards continuously using front crawl, breaststroke, or combination of both. Transition into a 2-minute tread only using the legs, and finish with a 50 yard swim. All three steps must be done without rest periods in between. Must demonstrate breath control and rhythmic breathing during the swim.
2. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface, and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface in order to breathe. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Timed event: complete within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
