Orange County has applied for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding from FEMA for the implementation of stormwater improvements within the Orlo Vista/Westside Manor community. Specifically, the project includes excavation of three (existing) ponds, drainage improvements, and construction of a new pump station and force main. Orange County anticipates applying for Round Two of the Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program (GIP) funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support long-term mitigation efforts by assisting the State of Florida and its local governments in minimizing or eliminating the risks and reducing losses from future disasters. This program is being administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) through the Community Development Block Grant - Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Program.
The NFIP is a Federal program enabling property owners in participating communities to purchase insurance protection against losses from flooding.
The Community Rating System (CRS) is a program implemented by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to reward communities such as Orange County which undertake flood plain activities beyond the requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Orange County began participation in the CRS in 1991 and currently has earned enough CRS points to be awarded a class 5 rating. This class 5 means that the citizens of Orange County who have flood insurance are receiving a 25% discount on their premium.

The Rainfall Program has been operated and maintained by the Stormwater Management Division since its inception in 1986. The network of gauges collects rainfall data at fourteen locations within nine of Orange County's twelve major drainage basins.
The Stormwater Management Division maintains a library containing various reports related to the hydrology and hydraulics of Orange County. Reports available include those for the master plans and capital improvement projects. The library is organized by the twelve major drainage basins within the County.
