Dengue Fever
Dengue Fever is a mosquito-borne illness that is commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions. Common
symptoms are a high fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle, bone, or
joint pain, nausea and vomiting, swollen glands, and skin rash. The virus is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti
mosquito, which is not known to travel far and is commonly active during the day.
West Nile Virus
West Nile virus is most commonly spread through the bite of an infected mosquito during Mosquito Season, which
typically starts at the beginning of the summer through October. Most people infected with West Nile virus do
not develop any symptoms. Symptoms usually start 2-6 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. Some
people develop mild illness with flu-like symptoms and most people will recover completely, but fatigue and
weakness can last for weeks or months.
