Office on Aging

The Orange County Office on Aging is dedicated to supporting seniors and caregivers throughout our increasingly diverse cultural community. The Office on Aging offers a wide range of programs, activities and resources to facilitate and support the desires of our residents to successfully age in place. By promoting community engagement and providing connection to essential services, the Office on Aging continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of older adults throughout Orange County.

Commission on Aging

The Commission on Aging was established as an advisory board under the Orange County Board of County Commissioners in 2001. Today, the Commission on Aging consists of 11 board members and meets bi-monthly to plan for the needs of Central Florida elders.

Goal 1 — Act as a resource to Orange County Government staff and the Board of County Commissioners on aging issues, and to help in policy formation and implementation

Goal 2 — Increase community awareness of senior issues and programs through educational outreach, public forums and the media

Goal 3 — Build coordinated community response to elder needs through effective community partnerships

Multicultural Senior Center

The Orange County Multicultural Senior Center is a vibrant gathering place where older adults can connect, learn, and thrive. The center offers a variety of free programs and activities designed to support healthy aging, lifelong learning, and social engagement in a welcoming, culturally inclusive environment.

Residents can enjoy:

• Arts and crafts classes
• Computer and technology classes
• Health and wellness programs
• Educational workshops and seminars
• Bingo and other recreational activities
• Orange County Commission on Aging meetings
• Partnership and networking opportunities for senior service providers

New programs, workshops, and special events will be introduced throughout the year to meet the evolving interests and needs of our community. Registration information for select programs and events will be available soon.

Whether you're looking to learn a new skill, stay active, meet new friends, or connect with valuable community resources, the Multicultural Senior Center is a place where older adults can stay engaged, empowered, and connected.

Events and Programming

LIFE: Information for Elders Seminars
Learning about the aging network has never been easier—or more enjoyable! LIFE seminar series offers practical tips and helpful insights on everything from connecting with community resources to healthy living and staying active.

Current Series:

Downtown - Third Thursday monthly from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. at the Orlando Public Library (101 E. Central Blvd., Orlando) in the Albertson Room on the third floor.

Branching Out - Quarterly at library branches across the county and periodically at Community Action Centers.

Branching Out (En Espanol) - Hosted completely in Spanish, quarterly at library branches across the county.

On the Big Screen – Quarterly movie with an educational speaker before the event at the Orlando Public Library (101 E. Central Blvd., Orlando) in the Albertson Room on the third floor.

Elder Programs in County Facilities

Don’t just sit there—get connected!

There’s a world of activities waiting for you right here in Orange County! Whether you’re looking to stay active, meet new friends, learn something new, or give back to your community, we have programs to keep your body moving and your mind engaged. Come join the fun—you might just discover your new favorite hobby!

Senior Recreation Centers – Enjoy two beautiful locations run by Orange County Parks and Recreation, complete with game rooms for friendly competition, fitness equipment for energizing workouts, and programs designed to keep you healthy, happy, and active.
  • Community Centers – Orange County Community Action operates eight welcoming community centers that host senior clubs offering educational classes, engaging activities, and plenty of camaraderie.
  • Neighborhood Center for Families – Through the Orange County Citizens’ Commission for Children, thirteen neighborhood centers offer programs tailored to the unique needs of each community—because one size doesn’t fit all.
  • Elder Ambassador Program

    EAP is a volunteer outreach effort of the Orange County Commission & Office on Aging. Established in 2014, EAP volunteers are dedicated to making Orange County an elder-friendly community by assisting elders, their families, and caregivers become more aware of elder services and opportunities in the community. Elder Ambassador Volunteers attend training programs to learn about the vast elder services network – home health, residential care, dementia support services, and much more! Volunteers share their knowledge by giving presentations to various community groups as well as participating in local resource and health fairs.

    Senior Sensitivity Training

    Build understanding. Strengthen communication. Improve service.
    Senior Sensitivity Training provides practical guidance and tools to help individuals interact respectfully, effectively and confidently with older adults in a variety of settings. The training promotes greater awareness of the aging experience and offers strategies for creating more inclusive, accessible and welcoming environments for older adults.
    Senior Sensitivity Training has been provided to a variety of organizations and community groups and has been incorporated into training for healthcare professionals, students, and Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for local law enforcement.
    Trainings can be customized to meet the needs of each group, with sessions ranging from 30 to 90 minutes. Training is also available in Spanish.

    •Physical and cognitive accessibility awareness
    •Supportive interaction strategies
    •Reducing unintentional bias

    •Creating welcoming spaces for older adults

    Senior TV Programming (ORANGE TV & VISION TV)

    Active Lifestyles

    Active Lifestyles Magazine highlights local services, programs, resources, and opportunities designed to help older adults and caregivers stay informed, connected, and engaged in the Central Florida community.

    Vital Living Forum

    Vital Living Forum is a 30-minute talk show featuring a host and panel of experts who discuss topics, services, resources, and opportunities relevant to older adults in Central Florida. The program is filmed in front of a live audience, with three episodes recorded during each filming session.
