Orange County, Fla., Early Friday, April 26, 2013, the Orange County Fire Rescue Department Communications Center inadvertently sent out a Code Red message during a training exercise to approximately 65,000 phone numbers. The message stated: "Standby for an important message: Test AA". This Code Red activation was immediately terminated.
The purpose of a Code Red message is to allow emergency services to quickly reach large numbers of citizens to inform them of critical public safety information. Orange County Fire Rescue deeply regrets any inconvenience experienced by anyone who received this message.
