Lake Underhill Road

Widening, adding sidewalks and bringing in lighting

Board OK's Plan

Widening Lake Underhill Road starts as soon as money for the project becomes available.

The plan expands Lake Underhill Road to four lanes between Goldenrod and Rouse Roads. Other improvements include new sidewalks, bike lanes and better lighting.

The design follows the existing right of way as much as possible.

Careful Planning

Planning started over three years ago in what’s called a roadway conceptual analysis.

The roadway conceptual analysis, or RCA, gives the answers needed for project approval including:

  • Is the work needed?
  • If so, what’s the best route for the new or improved road?
  • How much will it cost?
  • How will it change the neighborhood?

The Right Data

Planners collect a wide range of information including:

  • Traffic counts.
  • Accident records.
  • Historical, archaeological, natural or cultural features.
  • Endangered wildlife.
