Alafaya Trail

Mark Twain Boulevard to Avalon Park Boulevard

Rush Hour Relief

Work has now been completed on a busy stretch of Alafaya Trail.

The four mile project added two lanes along with a new sidewalk and multi-purpose path.

The joint public/private project used impact fees to speed up development.

Planning started in 2011 with traffic and storm water runoff studies.

Numerous meetings were held with homeowners and businesses to complete the design.

Project Update

Opened Spring 2014.

Construction Phase

The Orange County Public Works Department constructed the Alafaya Trail project from Mark Twain Boulevard to Avalon Park Boulevard. Construction plans were developed through a series of review meetings adopting all County and State standards. The construction added 2 additional lanes, a grass median, a new 5’ sidewalk and 10’ multi-purpose path. A new signal was installed at the intersection of Stone Abbey Boulevard and Alafaya Trail. Additionally the Orange County Public Utilities Department upgraded and installed a new water main, reclaimed water main and force main lines along the corridor.
