The Live Local Act (SB 102 [2023]; amended by SB 328 [2024] and SB 1730 [2025]) requires local governments to allow multi-family and mixed-use residential projects in areas zoned for commercial, industrial, or mixed use, and in those portions of flexibly-zoned areas—such as Planned Developments (PDs)—permitted for commercial, industrial, or mixed use, if at least 40% of the units are affordable rental housing, as defined in § 420.0004, Florida Statutes, for at least 30 years.
Projects meeting the criteria:
Mayor Jerry L. Demings launched the Housing for All initiative to promote and incentivize the development of affordable and attainable housing in Orange County.
